ALDI’s new Greyson’s 0% London Dry and 0% Pink non-alcoholic botanical drinks, have won prized silver medals at the International Spirits Challenge, the week before the drinks launch in store.

Scottish company, Spirits of Virtue is proud to announce that they are working with ALDI, supplying two non-alcoholic drinks under ALDI‘s Greyson’s label. Spirits of Virtue is run by brothers Roddy and Kerr Nicoll.

The two products will launch in ALDI stores on 12th August, priced at just £8.99.

The drinks are the non-alcoholic partners to ALDI’s Greyson’s gin and Greyson’s Pink Gin.

In addition, the Spirits of Virtue brands, USKO Nordic Berries, a fruitily flavoured, non-alcoholic take on vodka, scooped gold, with another silver for Seven Giants Reposado Style, agave non-alcoholic drink.

All Spirits of Virtue’s products are based on unique Deeside water, filtered through the granite rock of the Cairngorm mountains, using natural ingredients with provenance of flavours at the core.

All are vegetarian, vegan, low sugar and low calorie, and halal certified.

Spirits of Virtue worked closely with ALDI buyers and with drinks expert and product developer Angela Mount to handcraft the two Greyson’s 0% products to a specific brief from ALDI to meet the high levels of quality and standards expected by the retailer.

Greyson’s 0% London Dry Botanical is based on a careful blend of botanicals, including alpine juniper, Indian coriander, Sicilian lemon, and Tahitian lime. It is bright and fresh, with a sweet citrus tang.

Greyson’s 0% Pink Botanical includes bright English strawberry and Scottish raspberry natural extracts with the sweet aromas and flavours of summer berries.

Roddy Nicoll, CEO of Spirits of Virtue, said: “We are delighted to be working with ALDI and very excited about the launch of these products. The team and all involved have put a lot of hard work into creating and refining these two drinks to optimum quality.”

The demand for no and low beverages continues to grow at pace, with 44% of consumers currently most likely to purchase from a supermarket in-store.

Recent stats show the non-alcoholic sector growing ahead of the overall BWS market, with +47% volume growth between 2022 and 2023. Non-alcoholic spirit sales increased by £ 6.2 million over the last 12 months.

The market is being driven by consumers, with three in 10 seeking to cut down on their alcoholic consumption rather than abstaining totally, and 71% of non-alc consumers concurrently drinking alcoholic spirits, many of them seeking zero-proof alternatives to their favourite cocktail.

The USKO Nordic Berries is a fresh, tangy drink based on the crunchy red fruits of the Nordics, including lingonberry, cranberry and sea buckthorn. The Seven Giants Reposado is one of a range of three non-alcoholic tequilas based on organic blue agave and enhanced by spicy black pepper, jalapeno, smoke and caramel.

Angela Mount stated: “In developing all these drinks, we try to get as close to the original style and flavours of the alcoholic versions, thus creating natural and authentic flavours. It’s great to add these further medals to our growing collection.”
